The Roosevelt County Sheriff‘s Office is located in Northeastern Montana and headquartered in the city of Wolf Point. Satellite offices are also maintained in the cities of Poplar and Culbertson. Roosevelt County Sheriff's Office covers the towns of Wolf Point, Poplar, Culbertson, Froid, Bainville and all rural areas within Roosevelt County. We are responsible for the investigation and prevention of crime, coroner duties, civil process, bailiff, emergency recovery, detention center operations and emergency services response for a county of over 2368 square miles.

SEPTEMBER 7, 2012

A Roosevelt County Deputy and a Fort Peck Tribal Police Officer were involved in an officer involved shooting Wednesday afternoon. The shooting occurred at mile marker 600 on US HWY 2 which is located between the towns of Wolf Point and Poplar.

One suspect Robert Belton was apprehended and charged with Obstruction of a Peace Officer, Felony Assault on a Peace Officer, Eluding, Felony Criminal Endangerment, Tampering with Evidence, Resisting Arrest and Leaving the Scene of an Accident. Belton is currently incarcerated in the Roosevelt County Jail.

Poplar and Wolf Point fire department were called to extinguish a fire created by a burning pickup truck Belton was driving.

Neither the officers or suspect were shot however; Belton and a Roosevelt County Deputy were transported to the local hospitals for treatment and minor injuries.
The case has been turned over to the Valley County Sheriff’s Office and FBI for investigation.

JUNE 26, 2012

On June 26, 2012 at approximately 0532 hours, the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglary at the Val Am convenience store in Culbertson, MT. Deputies investigated the crime and have arrested the following suspects:

LEVI HARLEY HAREN – Burglary and Probation Violation with NO BOND 

DARIAN DAMM – Burglary with bond set at $50,000

JAMES CARPENTER – Burglary with bond set at $100,000

All suspects are currently incarcerated at the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Jail in Wolf Point, Montana.

JUNE 30, 2012

On Saturday June 30, 2012 Kandace Poole from Fargo, North Dakota was arrested by Roosevelt County Deputies for Obstruction and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia as a result of a traffic stop on US Hwy 2 by Bainville, Montana. Deputies also arrested Daniel, Coleman from North Dakota on various traffic violations.

Deputies later served a FELONY Parole Violation Warrant on Poole out of the State of North Dakota.
Poole is currently incarcerated in the Roosevelt County Sheriff Jail in Wolf Point on NO BOND.
Coleman bonded out of jail.

FEBRUARY 14, 2012

On February 10, 2012 a Meagan June Croxford was arrested by a Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Deputy on February 14, 2012 on a Felony Warrant for a parole violation out of the state of Oregon and she was also remanded to the custody of the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Detention Facility.

 

 

 

 

 

Wolf Point City Police Officer arrested Alexander Alvin Abellon a Felony Warrant for a parole violation out of the state of Oregon and remanded him to the custody of the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Detention Facility.

Croxford and Abell were arraigned on February 15, 2012, they both waived extradition back to Oregon.

FEBRUARY 14, 2012

On February 14, 2012 Royce BirdsBill Sr was arrested by a Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Deputy on a Felony Federal Warrant for a parole violation and was remanded to the custody of the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Detention Facility.

BirdsBill was Transported to Havre by Roosevelt County Detention Staff and released to the custody of the US Marshall’s. He will be taken to a facility in Great Falls, MT and then be arraigned on his charges.

FEBRUARY 5, 2012

On February 5, 2012 at approximately 1709 hours, a Roosevelt County Deputy effected a traffic stop on US hwy 2 near mm 583 West of Wolf Point after observing a vehicle traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was stopped for speeding and the driver, Timothy Pickett was found to also have a Felony Warrant for Aggravated Assault out of Flathead County, Montana.

Pickett was remanded to the custody of the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Detention staff on a $10,000 bond. Pickett was also cited for Speeding and Driving while Suspended or Revoked.
